Friendly welcome on arrival, taken to our room (we were on the top floor) - pleasant and airy, in keeping with the age of the building. The en-suite bath/shower was small, the taps on the hand basin were loose, but they were functional. We were only here for a night away from home. We had beer and food on site (the food was good, but my wife had salmon (main) sticky toffee pudding to follow but was still peckish - we had a walk to the other pub in the village where she had a bag of crisps.... The beer was good, the staff were all friendly and likeable. We didn't have breakfast so can't comment - but if we find ourselves back this way we wouldn't hesitate in checking here for availability. Thanks

Fabulous, hospitable staff. Lovely cooked breakfast. Great car park. Genuinely dog friendly (owner's dog so sweet). Great value for money and made a change from paying higher prices in Oakham or Stamford or the more 'popular' villages round Rutland Water.

Beautiful little place to stay after a day out at Burghley house. Well stocked bar, comfortable surroundings. Evening meal was delicious. Recommend the Pork Belly, pie, and the tapas style chorizo/prawns as a starter for 2. Breakfast equally amazing, freshly cooked, and piping hot. Room was nice and clean, facilities too. Owner very helpful and cheerful, a little tour and history of the pub too which is a nice touch.

Very friendly and very helpful staff. The locals are also very welcoming. The food was very tasty and good pub food. The breakfast is exceptionally good and value for money at just £15. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The location is great for people travelling long distances and want a break as it is near the motorway. It is difficult to find fault.

Stayed here for one night as a Valentines treat! Arrived early afternoon, managed to sample a couple of pints of 'Timmy Taylor' - excellently kept. Had a pleasant light lunch home made tomato soup & coronation chicken sandwich. Really nice especially accompanied by another couple of Timmy Taylors! This was in the bar area, which is cosy and comfortable. Rooms are comfortable & functional. Tea / Coffee facilities along with sparkling & still water are provided. Very clean rooms. Bathroom shower, no bath . No problem for us. Be aware the ensuite is one person wide. We had an excellent dinner, starter of Chorizo & prawns mixed in with Samphire - wonderful and compliments to the chef. Mains, Seared Salmon & a Steak - again extremely well presented and cooked to perfection. Puddings, can recommend the Lemon Posset or the Sticky Toffee pudding full of taste & just right. Wine selection good, though a tad overpriced a Soto Mayor at £26.00 is a bit of a mark-up! The dining area , is pleasant and casual. The over-riding factor to why this was a good visit is the staff. Engaging, polite and service orientated. I did not get any names unfortunately. The chap that checked us in & served us lunch (I believe quite new) to the lady managing breakfast & chopping wood deserve a pay rise!! Breakfast, excellent portions as in super size. Again a great chef in residence. This establishment is 'dog friendly' I do not have a dog. However, I have and therefore have no issue with dogs or their owners. What I do have an issue with (not the Coach House) is owners finding the necessity to have there dogs in the dining room. This happened at dinner and breakfast. Totally unnecessary. Dogs in the bar , no issues. Maybe the Coach House will consider maintaining a dog friendly environment but no dogs in the dining area would be welcomed. Your thoughts? Overall, nice visit , lovely village & some great walks for all.

Proper local pub with lovely rooms and really good food. The staff were incredibly helpful and really went above and beyond to make my stay a pleasant one. Lots of nice touches, such as fresh milk for tea and coffee in the room which is a lovely touch, and providing a light picnic breakfast as I had to leave early (with no extra charge!!). Also really helpful in advance of my stay, finding me a suitable room for me and my dogs.

Very friendly and helpfull staff. Nice bar, great beer and nice outside seating. Food was very good both at night and breakfast. Nice sized car park with plenty of space. The provision of an antique pole ladder to access the high level window in the bedroom, very quirky.
